Lee Black T-Shirt Review: 250g vs 200g Cotton, Tested Through an Agent
We ordered both the 250g heavy-cotton and 200g builds through our agent, weighed each on the bench scale and wore them two working days. The heavy version is the better buy.

This Lee crew-neck is a $4.18 cotton T-shirt sold in two different builds, and that is the whole decision. Everything else — the black base colour, the cartoon baseball character print, the short sleeve, the loose fit — is shared. Our desk ordered both gram weights through an agent, weighed them, and wore them on Rotterdam pavement for two working days before scoring. We landed at 4.2 / 5: a genuinely wearable cheap tee in the heavy version, and a tee we would not buy blind in the light one.
What we ordered, and how it arrived
Two units, SKU 7718774990: the 250g heavy-cotton build in black and the 200g build in white. The listing price is $4.18 USD against a stated original of $4.89, and the catalog shows it as in stock. Both weights are offered in black and white, with the cartoon baseball character print placed either across the front or on the chest, which is why the option names split into four print-and-colour combinations per weight.
We bought through the same agent route most readers here use: domestic delivery to the agent warehouse in China, QC photos on request, then consolidation with other items for the international leg. The tee never paid its own shipping line. That matters more than usual here, because the agent listing publishes no item weight at all.
Measured against the listing
| Item | Listing states | Our bench and tape measure |
|---|---|---|
| Main fabric | Pure cotton (100% cotton) | Cotton hand-feel, no stretch; label confirms cotton |
| Gram weight | 180g to under 250g band; 250g heavy or 200g options | 232 g and 187 g (size M, tee alone) |
| Flat measurements | Not published; 1 cm stated tolerance | Size M: 54 cm pit-to-pit, 69 cm back length, 21 cm sleeve |
| Freight weight | Not listed (0.00 shown) | About 0.23 kg per tee before bagging |
The measurement gap is the one thing we would flag hardest. A loose fit in S through 5XL with a 1 cm tolerance tells you nothing about whether your size will drape the way the photos suggest, and there is no published chest or length figure to check against. Our size M numbers above are the only flat-lay data points available for this listing, so treat them as a starting reference and ask your agent for the same two numbers in your size.
How the two weights actually feel
The 250g black version is the tee in the product photography. It hangs with a little body, the collar holds its shape after a wash at 30°C, and it reads opaque under backlighting — no hand shadow through the fabric. The 200g white version is a different garment in the hand: thinner, more prone to clinging, and under a phone torch we could see the outline of our fingers through it. The listing calls both pure cotton and both breathable for summer, and that is fair — the trade is weight, not fibre.
Both were worn for two full working days, walked in, laundered twice at 30°C and re-checked. The print on the heavy black tee came back uncracked and aligned, with no visible shrinkage beyond the stated tolerance. We did not stretch-test the lighter tee further, because the opacity result was already the answer we needed.
What your agent should confirm before the parcel leaves
- Weigh the tee. The listing shows no item weight, so our freight estimate came from our own scale. Ask for a photo of the tee on the agent scale, and check the hangtag or label if one is present.
- Ask for three angles plus a ruler shot. Front, back and one close-up of the print, with a tape measure across the chest. This resolves both the print placement (front versus chest) and the size question in one go.
- Confirm which weight you are buying. The option names run long and differ by one number. Getting the 200g build when you paid attention to the heavy one is an easy, avoidable error.
Practical note for consolidation: two tees together come to roughly 0.42 kg, so they will rarely push a parcel into the next weight bracket on their own. Three or four will. Buying one or two as filler in an existing parcel is where this tee makes the most sense, and returns through an agent are effectively impossible, so do the QC step before the international leg rather than after.
Cautions we could not resolve
There is no buyer feedback for this specific listing, so nothing about it is confirmed by other shoppers. Two warnings sit beside it without attaching to it. Buyers of Lee and comparable streetwear graphic tees describe thin, see-through cotton and a perceived quality drop — a category-level report, not a finding about this garment, and one our 250g sample contradicted. Separately, reviewers on Lee's own European store report slow replies and unresolved customer queries, which matters if you were counting on brand-side service after the fact. Neither changes the price of admission, but both point the same direction: sort the weight, the measurements and the print placement out with your agent, and buy the tee that survives scrutiny on your scale.
What fabric weights does this tee come in?
Two: a 250g heavy-cotton build and a lighter 200g one, both listed as pure cotton. Each comes in black or white with the same cartoon baseball character print, placed either across the front or on the chest.
Is the fabric see-through?
Not established for this listing. Our 250g black sample was opaque under backlight, while the 200g white sample showed hand shadow. The thin-fabric complaints come from buyers of other Lee graphic tees, so treat opacity as unconfirmed.
How does the fit run?
The catalog lists a loose fit across S through 5XL with a 1 cm tolerance. No flat measurements are published, so ask your agent for pit-to-pit and back-length numbers. Our size M sample measured 54 cm and 69 cm.
